Paul Draws You
Meet the artist

Hi, I'm Paul

I've been drawing people for a living since 1995 - first as a cartoonist for newspapers and magazines, then live at events all over Chicago. Somewhere along the way I figured out that drawing someone in a few minutes, while a crowd laughs along, is the most fun you can have with a marker.

These days I've done more than 1,800 events - weddings, parties, corporate gigs, you name it. I still draw fast, I still put a bit of personality into every one, and I still love the moment someone sees their caricature and cracks up.

Paul's comic strip, Spits

When he's not at an event, Paul draws Spits - his own comic strip. Take a look.

Why I do this

It never gets old

Honestly? It's the reactions. I've drawn thousands of people and it never gets old - the double-take, the laugh, the way they turn the drawing around to show the whole table. I get to be the fun part of someone's big day, and then they take a little piece of it home. Hard to beat that.
